Lawrence T. “Andy” Andrews

Brookings resident Lawrence T. “Andy” Andrews passed away at a local care facility on January 24, 2019. He was 96 years old, having been born September 20, 1922 in Boise, Idaho. His parents were Edward Thomas and Emma Lucinda (Zimmer) Andrews. He was married Aug. 20, 1964 at Buhl, ID to Viola A. Nejezchleba-Jones. She preceded him in death in 1998.
Andy worked as a light truck driver in Boise, and also as an electrician’s helper for the Bradley Mining Company in Stibnite, ID. Andy served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II as a mail clerk with the Headquarters Special Troops in the Philippine Islands and Japan. In that role he supervised the processing of mail for up to 2,000 officers and enlisted men per day.
Andy came to Oregon in 1963, and worked for 20 years at South Coast Lumber Company. He was a millwright and ran the chipper. During the last three years, he worked at the plywood mill.
Andy is survived by a younger brother, Ronald Andrews, and other relatives. He will be interred next to his wife at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery.
