Obituary for Lawrence "Larry" G. Houk
Lawrence “Larry” G. Houk Sept. 15, 1937 – June 26, 2010 Lawrence “Larry” G. Houk passed away from natural causes at his home in Brookings, OR on June 26, 2010. He was 72. Larry, as friends and family knew him, was born September 15, 1937 in Oakland, CA to Russell and Dolores (Perry) Houk. He spent 34 years as a truck driver with Consolidated Freight in Reno, NV. Larry married Gilda Falconieri on Sept. 23, 1960 in Reno. They moved to Brookings following Larry’s retirement in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hosting parties including at the Reno Air Races and was famous for his barbecue sauce. The family also camped for 23 years at Weber Lake. Larry had a love for dogs including his Yorkies, Katie and Molly and his Springer Spaniel, Bud. He was very social and will be missed. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Christine Houk and Ralph and Joannie Houk, both of Reno, NV, daughter, Linda Bredengerd of Fernley, NV, grandchildren, Michelle Houk, JJ Bredengerd, Justin Houk (Jessica), Kori Ann Bredengerd, Mitchell Houk (Nicole), Heather Houk, and Jaclyn Houk, sisters, Barbara Jean Waroby and her husband, Skip of Reno, Marie Seeds of Fremont, CA, brother, Rusty Houk and his wife, Patty of Newcastle, CA. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Gilda in 2000. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1250 St. Alberts Drive in Reno on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in Reno.
