Obituary for L. John Lewis
L. John Lewis passed away peacefully on 22 June 2013. John was 95 years young, born on 23 June 1918. He was a decorated WWII B17 tail gunner who survived his 36 missions over Europe. John was a Pinkerton investigator and was involved in security work all his life, well into his seventies. Originally from the western Pennsylvania area, John and his wife Maryon lived in the Carson Valley area in Nevada and later settled here in the Gold Beach area in 2003. Maryon passed away three years ago. John was proud of his military service and his volunteer service to the Sheriff Department in Nevada. John was a great patriot and his last written words to his grand children were: “Fight to keep this country free!! If you fail to do so, you will be living in a world gone mad, and dying in a country of slaves”…… He will be missed by his many friends in Gold Beach and Nevada. He is survived by his two sons, Noel Fisher of Seattle, WA and Robert Fisher of Ione, CA and his two daughters, Marilyn Fisher of Homewood CA and Carol Tice of Gold Beach, OR. John has 7 grand children and 5 great grand children. There will be no services per his request and all memorial contributions should be sent to Coastal Home Health and Hospice, PO Box 493, Gold Beach, OR 97444.
