Obituary for Kenneth "Kenny" W. Erb
Kenneth William Erb 74, died peacefully in his home on Feb. 7th 2012. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado on August 26th, 1937 to Henry C. and Ruth E. Erb. The family moved to San Diego, California and then to Junction City, Oregon where he grew up. He enlisted In the United States Air Force in 1956 and was based in Indiana. On leave from the service he married Margaret Marie (Peggy) Caruso on November 1st 1956. They were later based in Colorado, and in California. He was honorably discharged in 1960. He was employed with the US Forest Service, and then a tree faller/bucker in the woods, and later became a commercial fisherman. He was one of the top producers of the West Coast Fisheries. Over the years he leased the F/V Juanita and owned the Sil-Char II, Kincheloe, Ballad, Sweet Pea, Eddie & Rod and the Pam Bay. He was part owner of Gold Beach Seafood, Kincheloe Seafood, Chetco Seafood, and Harbor Ice. His hobbies included gardening, playing guitar, singing, rafting, being outdoors, cooking, eating and spending time with the family. He is preceded in death by his brothers Don, Richard and Harold Erb, son Michael Allen Erb, and grandson Logan Bradley Erb. He is survived by his older brother Edward Erb, son Christopher Erb, daughter Michelle Cleary and grandchildren, Paul Cleary, Lindsay Erb, Erika Cleary, Jeremiah Gibbons, Lacey Erb, Elijah Gibbons, great grandson Hayden Gaddis and multiple nieces and nephews. He had many close friends, and will truly be missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at the Living Waters Four Square, located at 1136 Fifield St. Brookings, Oregon on February 25th, 2012 at 1:00 PM.
