Obituary for Kenneth Eugene Knox
On Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:30 am after a heroic battle with cancer Kenneth Eugene Knox passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. Kenny was 69 years, 6 months and 19 days.
Kenny was born on January 12, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas to Elmer Leroy Knox and Eula Claudine (VanVoris) Knox. Kenny and his loving wife, Jane Dee Larson Knox, were married on November 1, 2001 in Lake Tahoe. They moved to Brookings, Oregon five years ago. Brookings was Kenny’s happy place. He loved the ocean, the beach and the people. Kenny loved life and his family was most important to him.
Kenny was a meat cutter for Safeway for 20 years. He worked for Robert Mondavi Winery for 23 years until he retired in 2015. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Brookings. On July 29th, Kenny was presented with The Quilt of Valor for his service in the National Guard.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father and mother and his step-daughter, Laura Beth Kolb Sanchez. He leaves behind his wife, Jane, his sons, Kevin Eugene Knox and Scott Jeremy Knox both of Olympia, Washington, step-son Paul Michael Kolb (Melissa) of Anderson, Indiana, step-daughter Rebecca Lynne Flesch (Michael) of Brookings, Oregon. He also leaves behind his brothers Wayne Leroy Knox (Beverley) of Modesto, California and Michael Craig Knox (Carmen) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life was held on the beach on Sunday, August 2nd at 1:00 PM. Pastor Matt Steendahl of Trinity Lutheran Church of Brookings officiated. The family requests that remembrances be made in the way of donations to Coastal Home Health & Hospice, P O Box 6042, Brookings, OR 97415.
