Obituary for Joyce Winona Berggren
Joyce Berggren passed away at her home in Brookings, Oregon. She was 80. Joyce was born in Rochester, New York to Francis and Myrtle (Peckins) Terrault. She and her family traveled across the United States where they homesteaded in Oregon. She was only 4. She was raised on a farm with her 3 sisters and a brother. She was a woman of strength, the last of her siblings to die. She married Donald Berggren on May 1st, 1989 in Yosemite, California. Both Joyce and Don worked at RainBird Irrigation in California for 30 years, she as a machine operator, Don as a material coordinator. They retired and moved to Brookings 20 years ago where she returned to the forests of her childhood. As a couple, Joyce and Don traveled throughout Oregon and Washington. She gardened throughout her life, painted, worked with ceramics, and could yodel with the best of them. She was a country girl at heart. With her kindness and loving spirit she helped so many others through difficult times, especially her daughter who was spinal cord injured at age15. She lived to see her only son, Steve Soliz, die at age 59 just 9 months before she passed away. She had a good life. She was a great mother and maintained long lasting friendships. She is very much loved and will be terribly missed. She was survived by her husband of 24 years, Donald Berggren, daughter, Debra Soliz, 6 grand children, Jennifer, Kristen, Allan, Kimberly, Danielle and Steven, great grand daughters, Mallory, Kaitlin and a great grand son on the way, step daughters, Vicki and Betsy, step grand son, Steven and his children and a multitude of nieces and nephews who continue to reside throughout Oregon. Due to her wishes no services will be held. There will be a private inurnment at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Oregon. Condolences may be expressed online at www.redwoodmemorial.net.
