Obituary for Joyce Raymond
Joyce Raymond April 17, 1934 - Aug. 29, 2011 Joyce Raymond, 77, of Brookings, passed away at her home with her family at her side on August 29, 2011. Joyce was born April 17, 1934 in Deadwood, South Dakota, the only child to Van and Grace Van Eaton. Her father was in construction so the family moved frequently, but Joyce was able to spend her high school years in Bandon. She graduated from Bandon High having been named a Cranberry Festival Princess. Following graduation, Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Ed Wehner, began their family and moved to Brookings in 1964. In 1969 Joyce met & married the love of her life, Donald Raymond, which added 3 stepdaughters to Joyce’s 4 daughters. Joyce and Donald wanted to add a boy to their 7 daughters, but ended up having another daughter in 1970. Joyce is cherished by her family as the "world's best mother and friend". Joyce also had a very special relationship with her mother on a day to day basis. They did most everything together. She also enjoyed dancing, traveling with her family, reading, shopping and her cats, but her most her favorite pastime was spending time with her daughters. Survivors include her mother, 98 years young, Grace Van Eaton of Brookings, daughters and sons-in-law of Oregon, Sheryl and Bud Davis of White City, Deanna and Tyler Evans of Seaside, Marlene and Colin Clark of Oregon City, Susan Wehner of Eugene, Dawn and Carl Guenther of Brookings, stepdaughters and their husbands, Michelle and Barry Williby of Lomita, CA, Karen Bertolini of Brookings and Kim and Jim Dobson of Central Point, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and her father, Van. Memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Home Health and Hospice, PO Box 493, Gold Beach, OR 97444. A memorial service will be held Saturday (today), Sept. 3, 2011 at 3:00pm at Living Waters Foursquare Church, 1136 Fifield St. in Brookings. A reception will follow there. Private interment was held at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery.
