Obituary for Joyce Marie Barnes

Joyce Marie Barnes born August 21, 1958 heaven bound September 10, 2014 Wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, friend - loved by all, we will treasure her memory always. Following a brief illness, Joyce passed away at Rogue Regional Medical center, surrounded by family. Born in Turlock, CA and raised in the Santa Cruz mountain communities of Ben Lomond and Felton, Joyce met Jim Barnes and they were married in 1985. Daughters Jodee, Nikki and Kelsey followed and in 2000 they moved to Brookings. For the past 10 years she was employed by Fred Meyer in the apparel area and will be sorely missed by her associates. Joyce loved her family, especially granddaughter Desiree and grandson Hunter. She enjoyed sharing her beautifully decorated home with friends and family, working in her yard, playing games with her Friday night and Sunday afternoon crew and making great homemade ice cream. She is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Jodee Stokke and husband Ryan and children Desi and Hunter of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Nikki Barnes of Sacramento, CA, daughter Kelsey McKenna and husband Scott of Allentown, PA, parents Jim and Ruby Sanborn of Brookings, brother Mike Sanborn and wife Carolyn of Scotts Valley, CA, sister Janie Beverly and husband Tim of Ben Lomond, CA, sister Julie Vandermeer and husband Cy of Brookings, sister Joanette Brackett and husband Paul of Brookings plus several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to breast cancer research are preferred.
