Obituary for John C. Konzek
John C. Konzek passed away at his home in Brookings, Ore. after a long battle with cancer on September 18, 2011. He was 51. John was born October 17, 1959 in Pullman, Wash. to John N. and Joan (Peters) Konzek. When John was young, the family moved to Alaska, first to Anchorage then to Kenai. John enjoyed life in Alaska and found work in the oil industry coordinating the supply of repair equipment to the off-shore rigs there. He did this for 17 years before moving to Oregon; he lived in the Rogue Valley briefly before moving to Brookings in 1994. In Brookings, John worked at the Hungry Clam when it was owned by his mother and as a landscaper for the Deer Park Homeowners. He enjoyed reading, fishing, mushroom hunting and collecting 1st edition books. Survivors include his mother, Joan Konzek of Brookings, father, John N. Konzek and his wife, Marna of Missoula, Mont., sisters, Susan Krewson, Julie Konzek and Victoria Snow, and her husband Zac, all of Brookings, nieces and nephews, Tyler and Danner Snow, Jayme Walter, Jordan Krewson, Nicole Ledford and Brianna Sumner, great nephews, Brenden and Colton Landers and Waylon Carper.
