John Alvin Rose died at the age of 84 at the Curry County Hospital in Gold Beach on April 4,2017. John was born in North Bend, Oregon on November 27, 1932 to Irvin and Eunice (Waugh) Rose.

He was a resident of Gold Beach since 1960 spending most of his working years as a sanderman at the US (Champion) Plywood Mill. When it closed in 1986, he used his woodworking skills to do various handyman jobs for people in the community.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Rose and son, James Rose. John is survived by: his wife of 44 years, Rita; son Jerry Rose (wife Roni) of Seaside, OR; son Gary Rose (wife Becky) of Vancouver WA; son Brett Rose of Gold Beach; Step-daughter Kay Coleman (husband Bill) of Sarasota FL; Step-daughter Donna Fleshman (husband Darryn) of Brookings OR; Step-son Rocker Head (wife Kelly) of Klamath Falls OR and Step-son Paul Head of Troy, IL.

John will be sorely missed by his Grandchildren: Kyle, Hunter and Courtney Rose of Gold Beach; Dayna Steringer of Portland, Amanda Brunaugh of Seattle, Melissa Paul of Vancouver WA;Erin Orton of Williamsville NY; Isaac Rose of Portland;Derek Rose of Denver; Rachael Rose of Palm Bay FL; Salina Watson of Tucson Az; Alex Gumaer of Medford; Robyn Gumaer of Las Vegas; Alishia Fleshman of Petaluma CA, Emily Fleshman of Corvallis, Haley Fleshman of Brookings; Landon Fleshman of Brookings; Olivia and Hanna Coleman of Sarasota; Gavin and Silas Head of Troy IL, Brandi and Justin Head of TX and all their spouses plus 33 Great grandchildren.

The family will have a memorial celebration by gathering at his favorite beach on Saturday. No other services are planned.

Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
