Jimmy E. Phillips, 53, passed away December 13, 2012 in Brookings. Jimmy was born in Crescent City, Calif. on April 15, 1959; he lived most of his life in the Brookings-Harbor area. Jimmy worked as a logger and timber faller, a career that took him to Washington State and southeast Alaska for a number of years. He enjoyed his work and the many people he befriended in his travels. Jimmy loved his family, valued friendships and the simple things in life. His door was open to all, readily helping where he could. He will be remembered for his unique brand of humor and the country-style breakfasts he always served up with a grin. His loving and generous spirit will be greatly missed. Survivors include his parents, Jim and Joyce Phillips of Harbor, sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Don Hubbard, brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil Phillips and Linda Start, David and Stacie Phillips, seven children: Jim, Don, Lacey, Windy, Robert, Tyrell and Justin Phillips and nine grandchildren. A celebration of Jimmy’s life was held. Condolences may be expressed online at www.redwoodmemorial.net.
