Obituary for Jimmie Lee Adams
Jimmie Lee Adams, 73, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010, at Curry Good Samaritan in Brookings, Oregon after a brief battle with cancer. Jimmie was born March 3, 1937 in Enid, Oklahoma to James Royce and Clara (Magie) Adams. The family relocated to Woodland, CA in 1941 with many of the other Adams clan from Oklahoma. In his youth, Jimmie enjoyed deer hunting, chess, stamp collecting, photography and classical music. He was a member of California Cadet Corp all four years of high school, and maintained an interest in all things military throughout his life. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1955. He attended Sacramento Junior College from 1955-1957, graduating with an Associate’s degree and a love of golf. He and his life-long friend Ron McKay joined the USAF in November 1957 on the buddy system. He left the USAF in 1961 with an honorable discharge. He then returned to school at California State University-Sacramento for a Bachelor’s degree and became a Lab Technician for Sutter Hospital. At the high point of his 30+-year career with Sutter he was a head technician and instructor. In 2001, he bought his dream house on the Oregon coast and retired by the sea, taking up hobbies old and new: golf, photography, woodworking, agate collecting and bird watching. Jimmie was always a voracious reader of all genres. He took exceptionally good care of his family, and was well cared for by his caregivers. His family extends heartfelt gratitude to all of them. Survivors include his niece, Stephanie Adams, and great-nephew, Alex Adams of Gold Beach; his niece Rhonda Rilea of Fruitland, ID; his great-niece April Tweedy of Payette, ID; his great-nephew Dallas Tweedy of Caldwell, ID; his nephew Darius Tarmone of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; his uncle Paul Magie of Austin TX; his former sister-in-law Verna Miller of Fruitland, ID; and many cousins in the Sacramento Valley.
