Longtime Gold Beach resident Jerry Biewend, 76, passed away in Coos Bay, Ore. on May 24, 2016.
Jerry was born in Bakersfield, Calif. on August 13, 1939 to Adolph “Bud" and Mary (Emery) Biewend. He grew up in California earning a BA in horticulture from Cal Poly. Jerry ran a landscaping business for many years in California before moving to Gold Beach in 1980. Here he purchased and operated the Four Seasons RV Park on the Rogue River for 25 years. Jerry was active with St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Gold Beach – devoutly serving daily at the church. He also served as a certified ombudsman for Oregon’s Seniors and People with Disabilities division helping and advocating for seniors in local care facilities. Jerry enjoyed gardening and traveling – especially a recent trip to the Hawaiian Islands. He was “beyond loyal” to his family, friends and the community as a whole. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Jerry will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his companion, John Compton of Gold Beach, brothers, Rev. Michael Biewend of Portland, Robert Biewend and his wife, Kelly of Sublimity, Ore., and a sister, Mary Prusso of Portland, Ore. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pam Moore.
