Obituary for Jeffery W. Jackson
Jeffery W. Jackson, 45, passed away at his home in Sixes, Ore. on October 4, 2016 following a lifelong battle with Huntington’s Disease.
Jeffery was born October 1, 1971 in Santa Cruz, Calif. to Wayne and Charlotte Jackson. The family moved to Brookings when Jeffery was in 3rd grade. He attended Brookings schools and graduated from BHHS in 1989. While there, he played football and was in the marching band. He and a friend drover across the United States to South Carolina where they went to work with Jeffery’s dad in the stamped concrete business. He was very adept at masonry and managed several work crews while working there. There he also attended Greenville Technical School where he majored in sports physical therapy.
Jeffery was in to fast cars – he owned several during his life including a Corvette and a Chevy Z28. He loved going to the beach, surfing, riding his bike, camping and fishing with family and, earlier in his life, body building.
As the ravages of Huntington’s began to take their toll on Jeffery’s mind and body, he moved to Oregon where his sister, Susan, and her family became the central part of his life. Whether he was attending his nephews’ and niece’s sporting events, playing games or just enjoying holiday get-togethers – the last years of Jeffery’s life were lived well. He later moved to Linda’s Haven in Sixes where he became one of the family. Jeffery was a jokester his entire life, maintain a wonderful sense of humor despite his struggles.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Wayne H. and Brenda Jackson of Greenville, SC, sister, Susan D. Bristow of Brookings, Ore., aunt, Penny S. Royals of Mitchell, SD, uncle, Warren King of Santa Cruz, Calif; stepsisters, Susan E. Morin of Scott’s Valley, Calif. and Lynn R. Maryatt of Santa Cruz, Calif.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte M. Maryatt, his sister, Christen R. Maybury in July of this year, uncle, Wayne M. Royals, grandparents, June and Mack Royals, Maude and Earl Jackson; stepfather, Charles E. Maryatt, and aunt, Jodi Holley.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at Brookings Church of the Nazarene, 1600 Chetco Ave. in Brookings. Pastor Tim Lourash will officiate.
