Obituary for James Windel Haer
James W. Haer May 27, 1940 - Feb. 6, 2011 James Haer passed away in Crescent City, CA on February 6, 2011. He was 70. Jim, as family and friends knew him, was born May 27, 1940 in Searcy, Ark. to Cicel and Ruth (Wiggs) Haer. The family moved to California where Jim graduated from Petaluma High School. He then began what would be a lifelong career in the restaurant business, working in various different locations. In 1970, Jim married Judy Richards in Reno, NV. Together, they owned and operated the Square Nail Restaurant, first in Sonora, CA and then later relocating it to Grants Pass, OR when they moved there in 1989. Jim's health forced their retirement in 2002. Jim loved to fish and would spend virtually every weekend in the Oregon coast, prompting he and Judy's purchase of a vacation home in Brookings, OR in recent years. Survivors include his children, James "JD" Haer of Grants Pass, Lori Attaway of Roseburg, Greg Haer of Texas, Jeffrey Haer of Grants Pass, Tamara Haer of Texas, brother, Gary Zunino of Texas, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his stepsons, Randy and Steven Richards. No public ceremony will be held.
