James “Mr. Hollywood” Wolfson June 7, 1928 – April 7, 2011 James “Mr. Hollywood” Wolfson, age 82, of Brookings, OR died on April 7, 2011 in Crescent City, CA. Jim, as family and friends knew him, was born in Los Angeles, CA on June 7, 1928. He graduated from Belmont High School where he was a star athlete in track and field. He was also an avid handball player. Jim was a driver for the Los Angeles Times for over 30 years and never had an accident. As part of his job he made many trips to the movie studios where he began his Hollywood memorabilia collection and met many movie stars including Marilyn Monroe. He worked as an extra in “Hello Dolly”. Jim became an aficionado of “Old Hollywood” and of Marilyn Monroe. His devotion to “Old Hollywood” was surpassed only by his devotion to his family. Jim is survived by his daughter, Shelley Brown and her husband, Jeff Brown, of Brookings, granddaughters, Charee, Maygen and Kaleigh, four great grandchildren and his sister, Marjorie Cameron of La Crescenta, CA. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 2:30pm at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield St., with Pastor Johnie Watterson officiating. Private inurnment was held at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery in Brookings.
