Obituary for Jack V. Dahl
Jack V. Dahl, 91, passed away at his home in Brookings, Ore. on September 11, 2012. Jack was born June 10, 1921 in Hibbing, Minn. to Elias and Edna (Hewitt) Dahl. He grew up and graduated from high school in Minnesota. In 1938, Jack moved to Oregon where he attended Linfield College before enlisting in the US Army during WWII. Following his military service, Jack began the Dahl Oil Company and commenced acquiring fuel service stations in the Portland area. He would own 28 separate stations during his 40 year career – he sold the company in 1985 and moved to Brookings in 1987. On July 3, 1980, Jack married Ellen Howard in Portland. He was a 65 year member of the Elks Lodge and also an active member of the Brookings Presbyterian Church. Jack enjoyed golfing, flying as a private pilot, traveling and playing tennis. He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Brookings. Jack was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
