Obituary for Gregory Alan Sawyer
On April 19th, Gregory Alan Sawyer, our beloved brother and friend, left this earth. Greg was born in Glendale, California on September 29th, 1948. He went to school in Canyon Country, California. He entered the Navy in 1967 and was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he honed his skills as a welder and artist in metalwork.

In 2003, he moved to Brookings, Oregon, where he established a metal fabrication business and marine propellor repair shop. He could weld / repair anything, and loved to use his creativity to bend various types of metals into beautiful, but usable items like tables and bakers-racks. Examples of his artistry can be seen throughout Curry County, especially in local restaurants and other public establishments in Brookings.

Greg was an avid Harley Davidson rider and builder of motorcycles. He could, often, be heard revving the engine as he passed by a friends house. Greg enriched every life he touched with his giving nature, huge heart and positive attitude. He had a strong spiritual faith and believed "all things are possible." Because it was a dream of Gregs to help the local youth learn a trade, the family is donating in his memory, his entire stock of metal and fabrication equipment to the Brookings Harbor High School future welding shop.

Greg is survived by his brothers, Tom Sawyer of Stockton, CA; Dan Sawyer of Bandon, OR; nieces, nephews and cousins of the Sawyer family; and the love of his life, Delia.

Contributions in Gregs name can be made to the charity of choice. Condolences can be sent to the Sawyer family c/o Delia Bachus, P.O. Box 1082, Brookings, Oregon 97415.
