Obituary for Gene R Camfield
Gene R. Camfield, of Gold Beach, passed away at a local care facility in Brookings on January 2, 2012. He was 84. Gene was born October 31, 1927 in Santa Ana, Calif. to Raymond and Willa (Hooser) Camfield. He left home at the age of 16 to enter a government apprentice school at Mare Island, where he would graduate with honors as a machinist. This was one of his proudest accomplishments. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Gene worked as a machinist for the University of California at Davis and Aerojet for most of his career. He also raised his family in the Sacramento area. He retired in 1990 and moved to Gold Beach. Gene had a lifelong passion for music, was an avid golfer and enjoyed airplanes. Survivors include his daughters, Lori Eck and her husband, Arthur of Thousand Oaks, CA, Lisa Camfield of Hillsboro, OR, brother, Lee Camfield of Santa Rosa, CA. At Gene’s request, services will be private at a later date.
