Obituary for Gary R. McGregor
Gary R. McGregor May 1, 1937 - Jan. 5, 2011 Gary R. McGregor passed away at his home in Brookings on January 5, 2011. He was 73. Gary was born May 1, 1937 in Santa Rosa, CA to Frank and Alice (Wolf) McGregor. His family were pioneers in the Sonoma Valley at the turn of the 20th century and had a large farm there. Gary quit school at an early age to go to work which he did until joining the US Navy. Following an honorable discharge, he went to work for the State of California in what would be a lifelong career in maintenance, including as an engineer for the Sonoma Valley Hospital in Sonoma, CA. Gary married Patsy Campbell on March 29, 1975 in Sonoma. They retired to Brookings in 1991 where Gary enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Patsy of Brookings and daughter, Alice McGregor of Santa Rosa, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. No public ceremony will be held. Redwood Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
