Obituary for Frank V. Van Lith
Frank V. Van Lith, 95, of Brookings, passed away in Crescent City, Calif. on December 2, 2014 Frank was born September 23, 1919 in Kapan, Timor to Peter and Johanna Van Lith. He grew up in Holland and Indonesia. Frank served in the Dutch Navy during WWII and was stationed in Falmouth, England. While there, he met Mary “Mollie” Blakiston. The two fell in love and married on Feb. 2, 1945 in Kingston upon Thames, England. They lived in England, returned to Indonesia, then to Holland and Belgium where Frank was director and owner of Linex, a plywood factory in Koewacht in Zeews Vlaanderen, Holland. They moved to the United States in 2002 to be near their daughter and son-in-law. Frank liked to play golf and bridge. As a family they traveled extensively worldwide. He enjoyed his stay in Oregon being close to his family and the ocean. He was a very generous man during his lifetime and was always there for his extended family members in need. Survivors include daughter and son in law, Francisca Van Lith and Dennis Knauert. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie in 2007, a brother, Bob and sister, Edy. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Coast Humane Society, PO Box 7833, Brookings, OR 97415. No public ceremony will be held. Frank’s cremated remains will be buried at sea.
