He grew up there until enlisting in the US Navy where he served during the Korean War. While stationed in California, Frank met Alene. They subsequently moved back to Michigan where Frank started working with the phone company. He transferred to Pacific Bell in San Jose, California in 1978 where he spent the rest of his career as a fiber optic technician. Following Frank’s retirement, in 1989, he and Alene moved to Brookings, Ore. Frank loved to play golf and was a member of the men’s club at Salmon Run Golf Course. He also enjoyed tinkering with electronics and made sure that all the family photographs were transferred to each new technology as it became available. Frank was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Brookings Elks Lodge #1934. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Alene of Brookings, son, Daniel M. Congdon and his life partner Linda Walling of Bothel, Wash., David B. Congdon and his wife, Cathy of Westland, Mich., daughter Laurie M.
