Obituary for Frances Lorraine Eide
Frances Lorraine Eide passed away at age 92 on Sept 20, 2017. She was born July 29, 1925 on a farm in Belview, MN and was the 2nd youngest of 13 children. After graduating from high school, Lorraine worked in a bank in Minneapolis until meeting Paul Eide Sr at a country dance hall in Maynard, MN.
After Paul’s four years in the Navy, the couple married on February 3, 1946. They lived in Minnesota for a few years and Paul Jr was born there in 1949. In 1951 the family moved to Fairbanks, AK where both Paul and Lorraine worked until 1955 when they left Alaska and moved to Brookings, OR. Daughter, Patricia, was born in Crescent City, CA in 1958. Lorraine loved working with numbers and was the full cycle bookkeeper for Kerr-Ace Hardware for approx 30 years before retiring in 1987. Lorraine and Paul loved the climate and loved living in the Brookings Community. Paul Sr preceded Lorraine in death in 2014.
Lorraine was a charter member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookings and has been very active in church activities over the years. She has been blessed with many friends and much support from the wonderful Trinity Lutheran congregation!
Lorraine was well known for her love of baking; especially taking pride in earning many blue ribbons at the Curry County Fair for her famous apple pies. She also taught many people the art of Norwegian lefse making, and she was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.
Lorraine is survived by two children, Paul Jr (wife Barbara) of Brookings, OR; Pat Arts (husband Dave) of Springfield, OR; three grandchildren, Eric Eide of Springfield, OR, Andrea (Eide) Trinh (husband John) of Minneapolis, MN, Ashley Arts of Austin, TX; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Ada Trinh of Minneapolis, MN.
All are invited to a memorial service and reception at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookings on Sunday, October 1, at 3:00 pm. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family. Condolences may be expressed online at www.redwoodmemorial.net.
