Obituary for Flossie Nida
A long-time resident of the Brookings area, died unexpectedly Thursday the 16th of April 2020 at Curry Medical Center in Brookings.
Although she was born January 21, 1934 in Bandon, Oregon and went to Bandon High School, she considered Brookings her hometown.
Flossie married Donald Nida and later gave birth to their only child Connie. In the years following, they moved to Brookings, Oregon where Flossie worked in the early 1980’s at The Pilot newspaper, followed by retail work at Fred Meyer and later volunteering at Curry Urgent Care.
Flossie (Honey) was widowed in 2009 after Donald’s (Papa’s) tough fight with Alzheimer’s.
A member of the Brookings Church of the Nazarene for decades, Flossie was a devoted, loving housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Cubs fan. She enjoyed her family and going to the beach.
Flossie is survived by her elder brother, Jack Lowe, her daughter and son in law, Connie and Tim Shipley, her grandchildren, Dustin, Shayla and Lacie and great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Chloe, Connor, Brayden and Rayna.
We will miss her full heart and SASSY personality. We love you Honey.
