Obituary for Faith E. Westbrook
Faith E. Westbrook, of Brookings, passed away in Gold Beach, Ore. on September 5, 2014. She was 87. Faith was born July 29, 1927 in Quimby, Iowa to David and Hazel Ware. She grew up in Wisconsin and Illinois. Faith married John R. Thomas. That marriage ended in divorce. She later married William “Bill” Westbrook in 1969. They settled in Smith River, California. Faith worked as a nurse’s aide and later as a ward clerk at Seaside Hospital in Crescent City for over 20 years. Following retirement, she moved to Arizona for 5 years before moving to Brookings. She enjoyed reading, gardening, watching television, camping, going on car rides in the hills and taking care of her animals. Faith was a born-again Christian and member of Smith River Baptist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie Ray and Cindy Thomas of Nampa, Idaho, daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Bob Coates of Brookings, son-in-law, Larry Cathey of Kelseyville, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her husband, Bill, Faith was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Fay Cathey, brother, Gaylord Ware, and sisters, May Grayken and Virginia Surls.
