E V E L Y N WILLIAMS April 14, 1919-Nov. 29, 2010 Evelyn Williams Evelyn Williams was born April 14, 1919, in Tulsa, Okla. Her family moved to Bakersfield, Calif., when she was 6 months old. Evelyn lived most of her life in Bakersfield. Evelyn worked most of her adult life as a bookkeeper. In 2005 she retired, at age 85, from Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital after 20 years of service. She then moved to Brookings to be with her daughter. She loved to read. Her favorite authors were Victoria Holt, Jean Stratton-Porter and Barbara Cartland. She also enjoyed china painting and making porcelain dolls with her daughter, Doris Rodriguez. Evelyn attended both the Baptist and Lutheran churches in Bakersfield, and was associated with Grace Bible Church in Brookings. Evelyn loved her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to her. She loved being with them. Survivors include daughters Shirlee Sheffel and her husband Wayne, Doris Rodriguez; son David Williams, and daughter-in-law Belinda Coulson. Grandchildren are: Sarah Williams, Matt Williams, Elizabeth Collins, Nathaniel Williams, Jennifer Sarver, Kirk Pendleton, Baily Williams, Evelia Bertha, Terry Williams, Susan Davis, Mitchell Abbott, Richard Abbott. Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Ace Abbott; mother Mary Abbott; brothers Aaron Abbott and Byron Abbott; husband Norman Williams, grandson Reason Rodriguez, great-grandson Max Abbott. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield St., in Brookings.
