Obituary for Evelyn Owens
Evelyn Owens January 21, 1924 – March 15, 2018
Brookings resident Evelyn Owens passed away on March 15, 2018 at a local care facility. She was born in Gresham, Oregon on January 21, 1924 to Elihu “Bill” and Alma Canny. Evelyn was raised in Gresham and graduated from Gresham high School. She married Dean Owens in 1942. Evelyn was an Office manager for Portland Electric and Plumbing for 33 years. Besides Gresham, she lived in Damascus and Brookings, moving to Woodburn in 2002. While there she was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Woodburn and was a volunteer for “Meals on Wheels”. Evelyn returned to Brookings in 2008 and was also a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Dean and their daughter, Karen. She is survived by her son Tom and his wife Nancy, sister Phyllis Groelle and her husband Jack; two grandchildren: Jerrell (and his wife Elizah) and Amanda and 4 great-grandchildren. At her request, no services are planned. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
