Obituary for "Vangie"
Long-time Brookings resident Evangeline “Vangie” Andreason passed away July 9, 2022, in Coos Bay, Oregon. She was born August 11, 1932, in Amidon, North Dakota. Vangie was the 8th child of Matthew and Barbara (Friess) Koffler. She married Benjamin Douglas “Ben” Andreason on September 5, 1953, in Eugene, Oregon.
Vangie was active in many community organizations: Oregon State Family Community Education (FCE) and won their “Sweetheart award”. She was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Altar Society and was a youth leader for many years. She was a member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and the P.T. A. (Parent-Teacher Association). Vangie was a Cub Scout leader with Marie Morris and started the Community Christmas Bazaar with Margaret Blunt and Marilyn Shipley; she continued to direct it for 50 years. She was a mail carrier Postal Service employee until she retired at the age of 62.
Vangie loved all things “crafty”. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, doll clothes and potholders. Her absolute joy was sewing personal Christmas stockings for the children in her family. She collected many different recipes and frogs of all kinds. Her favorite TV shows were “Blue Bloods”, “Judge Judy”, “Murder She Wrote” and the Golden State Warriors. She loved to play board games of many kinds, and Pinochle.
She is survived by her children: Sharon Andreason of Brookings; Mark Andreason of Brookings; Shelly Andreason of Nevada and Renee Fallert (Terry) of Sutherlin, Oregon; Grandchildren: Mike Taylor, Lori Bell, Erik Andreason, Kim Andreason, Samantha Hinze and Tyrel Hinze; Great-Grandchildren: Jayden Taylor; Jacob and Grant Bell; Makenna, Kaitlin and Kash Andreason, Mika and Olivia Andreason and Ronin Hintz. She is also survived by her sister Rosie and husband Forrest “Andy” Andreason, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of dear friends.
Vangie was preceded in death by her parents Mathew and Barbara (Friess) Koffler, her husband Ben and son Keith Andreason; also by her sisters Mary Kokkeler, Maggie Holland, Ann Cook, Josephine Wettengel, and brothers Peter Koffler and baby Koffler.
A Funeral Mass will be recited at 11:30 am on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 820 Old County Road, Brookings, Oregon. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
