Obituary for Elsie Dorothy Terrett
Elsie Dorothy Terrett was born June 15, 1919 in Battersea, London to Fredrick and Emma Parmenter and passed away in the early hours of July 10th, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Maurice Sidney Terrett, her five brothers and two sisters. She grew up in London and worked at the Battersea Power Station, where she met and later married her soul mate. During the Second World War she had some memorable experiences, her home was demolished when a bomb made a direct hit and another when a double-decker bus she was traveling on was blown over when a bomb exploded next to it. Their son Allan and his wife Robin moved to Gold Beach in 1974 and they were quick to follow as they wanted to be close to their grandchildren. She loved Gold Beach, the new friends she made and with Maurice were designated grandparents to the High School girls basketball team, which they followed avidly. Strangely, with her close friend Carmen Mollers, the hospital was her favorite place to visit, as the entire staff were so wonderful to her. She is survived by her son Allan, daughter-in-law Robin, adopted daughter Marie Knight, grandchildren Lindsay, Carley , Chelsea and her husband Tom Pohlman and great grandchildren Alex, Brayden and Sydney Pohlman. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either the Curry Health Foundation or Curry County Home Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on August 7th at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Gold Beach.
