Edna Louise Plunkett went home to be with her Lord on August 13, 2015. She was 91. She was born Nov. 1, 1923 in Mart, Texas, to Richard and Ada (Wagoner) Alexander. She was married June 26, 1957 in Menard, Texas to Ernest Daniel Plunkett who preceded her in death in 1975. Edna was a teacher in both public and private schools for 46 years before her retirement. She especially loved working with children. Over the years she fostered 32 children in her home. She enjoyed reading, teaching, and collecting bells, birds and spoons. She was a long-time member of Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Harbor. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Howard, James and Albert Alexander, sisters Flora McDonald, Mary Alice Wilson and Norma Lee Alexander, and a son David Plunkett. She is survived by daughters Joyce, Nancy and an adopted daughter Linda; also by brother J. W. Alexander and his wife Cathy, and sister Charlene Brown & her husband Alton; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as many friends. Edna is being laid to rest with her husband and son at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
