Obituary for Edith Marie Marks
Edith Marie (Robinson) Marks, 93, of Brookings, passed away at a local care facility in Brookings on March 15, 2015. She was born December 3, 1921 in Heavener, Okla. to James W. and Lucy B. (Linkswiler) Robinson. She married Joseph Dean Marks on October 26, 1940 in Roswell, New Mexico. They moved to Corvallis, Oregon in 1943 and then to Brookings in 1952. They raised 5 children: Patricia Jo Carter, James Lawrence Marks (Renee), Doris Allsup (Robert), all of Brookings, Jeri-dean Reynolds (Don) of Sweet Home, Ore. and Carol Jean Walk (Greg) of Ontario, Ore. In addition to her children, Edith is survived by 17 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Grace Pendergrass and Glenna Cloin, brothers, John Robinson and Joe Ray Robinson. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 sisters, Alena Jolliff and Alice Worley and a brother, Elmer Robinson. She was a master quilter and took great pride and joy in creating special quilts for all her children, grandchildren and most of her great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all her family and everyone who ever had the pleasure to know her. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Brookings Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 770 Elk Drive in Brookings. A committal service will follow at WJ Ward Memorial Cemetery, 1035 7th St. in Brookings. Following the committal, a luncheon will be held at the church.
