Obituary for Donald W. Hobbs
Donald William Hobbs passed away at his residence in Gold Beach, Ore. on June 30, 2012. He was 61. As a native to the Midwest, Donald was born to Harry and Helen (Rydberg) Hobbs on March 14, 1951 in Joliet, Illinois. He grew up in the Chicago suburbs of Manhattan and New Lenox, Ill. He spent time as a salesman for construction supplies and also worked for Harrah’s Casino in Joliet. Donald served in the U.S. Army for a few years and drove a tank in Germany towards the end of the Vietnam War. After he married Carol Hansen in 2003; they resided in Wisconsin until Donald built their home in Gold Beach, Ore. Donald always liked the idea of sitting by the ocean, and after researching the West Coast, decided on Gold Beach where the couple moved in 2011. Donald enjoyed NASCAR and would go watch the Indy Races with his friends. He also enjoyed golfing throughout the years with hopes of taking up the sport again. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Gold Beach, Ore.; his children, Megan Hobbs and Dean Hobbs of Ill.; brother and sister-in-law, David and Tammy Hobbs of Ill.; sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Dan Rantanen of Ill.; Aunt Irene Hobbs of Ill.; and uncle Robert and his wife Carol Hobbs of Ill.
