Obituary for Donald E. West
Donald E. West Nov. 6, 1928 - Nov. 8, 2010 Donald E. West passed away at his home in Port Orford, OR on November 8, 2010. He was 82. Don, as friends and family knew him, was born November 6, 1928 in Kosmos, WA to Oran and Myrtle (Lindberg) West. He worked on the Hughes ranch as a young man bucking hay. He later became a logger, hand falling timber with a mysery whip and later worked running chainsaw until an injury forced him to retire. Don married Caroline West on December 22, 1999 in Gold Beach, OR. He loved hunting, fishing, rock hounding, panning for gold and working with wood. Survivors include his son, Glen West of Brookings, daughter, Tracee Bougger of Lincoln, NE, adopted daughter, Pam Hanson of Portland, grandchildren, Brian West of Doty, WA, Shannon Brooks of PeEll, WA, Kristin West of Chehalis, WA, Reggie Bougger Staunton, VA, Lana Kasl Lincoln, NE, Spencer Bougger Lincoln, NE, great grandchildren, Hunter, Shelby, Christina, Cameron, and one on the way. Don was preceded in death by a twin sister, Nita Billings. A celebration of Don's life will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11:00am at the Port Orford Community Building in Port Orford. A reception will follow there.
