Obituary for Donald Francis Fleming
Don Fleming April 26, 1934 – January 2, 2018
Donald Francis Fleming, age 83, of Gold Beach, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, holding the hand of his beloved wife.
Donald was born on April 26, 1934 to Thomas and Agnes Fleming in North Lake, Wisconsin. He lived most of his life in Lancaster, California before retiring from General Telephone (GTE) after 25+ years. Then he moved to Gold Beach and spent a wonderful life overlooking the Rogue River with his family close at hand.
Don was loved by everybody he encountered. He served in the U.S. Army where he later had the privilege of playing for the New York Giants baseball team. He was an avid sports fan and adored the Green Bay Packers.
His family includes wife, Sonja Fleming; son Mark D. Fleming; daughter, Diane M. & husband Macen D. and grandson Jacen D. Parke; daughter Noni and husband Gary Carter and family; daughter Barbara Jo and husband Mark Fritz and family; daughter Becky and husband Ron Stamps and family, and with an extended family, especially niece Heather and husband Enricia Martinez and family.
A celebration of life will be announced in the near future, and he will be buried at sea at a date yet to be determined.
