Obituary for Dominic G. "Pastor Dom" Petrucelli
Dominic G. “Pastor Dom” Petrucelli, 71, went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2014. Dom was born October 27, 1942 in California. In 1965, he married Marrian. They moved to Brookings from the San Joaquin Valley in 2003. Dom was called to the ministry in 2006 and was the founding and current pastor of Safe Harbor Christian Fellowship in Harbor. He also, for the last few years, contributed to the weekly “Faith Forum” in the Curry Coastal Pilot. Dom was an excellent writer and story teller. He was very proud to be the last winner of the Hathaway Jones Tall Tale Award in the Gold Beach competition. His presence in the community, whether from his Harbor pulpit or solving the world’s problems over coffee at Fred Meyer, will be missed greatly. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Marrian, of Brookings, children Gina Cate and her husband Vince, David Petrucelli and Stephen Petrucelli and his wife Sarah, grandchildren, Noah Warren, Wayne Cate, Sarah Cate, Andrew Seale, Adolfo Melendez and Gina Melendez, mother, Louise Petrucelli, brother Sal Petrucelli and his wife Donna; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Yumi Cook. Dom was preceded in death by his father. Memorial contributions may be made to Safe Harbor Christian Fellowship, 1500 PMB 206, Brookings, OR 97415 or to the Outreach Gospel Mission, PO Box 993, Brookings, OR 97415. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Safe Harbor Christian Fellowship, 15786 Hwy. 101 South, in Harbor. A reception will follow there.
