Obituary for Dick Andrew Sutter
Brookings resident Dick A. Sutter passed away at home on June 16, 2018. He was born December 30, 1939 in Denver, Colorado, to John A. and Madelin B. (Smith) Sutter. He moved with his family to Sacramento, California when he was 3 years old.
Dick attended school in Sacramento including some college, and also served in the military. He was married there on April 30, 1967 to Jo Ann Reynoldson. Dick was a hydro-electric patrolman for Pacific Gas and Electric company for 40 years. He and Jo Ann retired to Brookings 23 years ago.
Dick loved the outdoors – bow hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and travelling. He volunteered with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife with a desire to enhance the environment for both the wildlife and people. He served as a volunteer at the State level on the Salmon Trout Advisory Committee, for 4 years as a representative from the south coast of Oregon. Dick was also the President of Oregon South Coast Fishermen for many years.
Dick is survived by his wife Jo Ann of Brookings, son Paul A. Sutter of Vancouver, WA; siblings Gurney Sutter of Citrus Heights, CA, Julia Blenn & her husband Ralph of Yuba City, CA and Keron Weisbart & her husband Morris of Sacramento, CA; two grandsons and three great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy Sutter.
Visitation will be held at 4 pm on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield St., Brookings. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Stand Up to Cancer, PO Box 843721, Los Angeles, CA 90084-3721 (make checks payable to SU2C or go online for electronic donation.)
