Obituary for Dianne Nelson
Dianne Nelson passed away at her home in Harbor on August 2, 2010. She was 68. Dianne was born January 15, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA. She grew up there. Dianne moved to Brookings with her family in 1981. During her time here she worked with the family at Mama's Italian Restaurant, she also worked as a bartender at O'Hollerans and Sporthaven and, later, as a caregiver for the State of Oregon. Dianne married Larry Nelson in Brookings. He preceded her in death. Dianne was capable of fixing any problem with her warm smile and encouraging advice; she continued to inspire everyone she came across. She enjoyed "nights with the girls" and visits with her grandkids. Always the center of any family gathering, Dianne was an excellent cook. Although she had a rough upbringing, she worked hard to provide a better life for her children and grandchildren. She will be missed but the memories of her will be forever in her family's hearts. She was an active member of the Brookings Elks Lodge #1934. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Rob Cooley of Pendleton, OR, Nadine and Mark Cleary of Brookings, Christine and Ronald Righetti of Brookings, son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Andrea Vallejo of Garden City, MI, grandchildren, Shane and Jesse Cooley, Ronald Hunt, Brittany Righetti, Justine Cooley and Trinity Vallejo, sister, Jeannie Rush of Philadelphia, PA. In addition to her parents and her husband, Dianne was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Bohner. A celebration of Dianne's life was held at the Brookings Elks Lodge #1934, 800 Elk Dr. in Brookings.
