Obituary for Delmas N. Baumbach
Delmas N. Baumbach of Brookings, Ore., died in a motor vehicle accident on Aug. 29, 2014. He was 48 years old. Del was born Sept. 14, 1965 in French Camp, Calif., to Gary Mead and Nancy Dunlap. He grew up in Lodi, Calif. May 23, 1998 he married Laura Lee Brooks in Chiloquin, Ore. Del was a master mechanic; he loved motorcycles, and finally got to cruise on his bike like he always wanted to. He served in the U.S. Army, and was also a wild lands firefighter, who worked in Oregon, California, and Arizona as part of the Arizona Task Force. Del also trained service dogs. Del was very mechanically inclined. He could make anything mechanical work again. If he needed a part and couldn’t find it, he’d make it himself. He could take nothing and make something out of it. He was also extremely dedicated to his wife and kids, and all of his family and friends. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it; he’d give you the shirt off his back. Del is survived by his wife Laura Baumbach; daughter Clarice Baumbach of Brookings; son David Baumbach, daughter Nicole Baumbach of Lodi, Calif.; step daughter Kristina Brooks of Klamath Falls, Ore.; step son Cody Brooks of Portland, Ore.; sister Melissa Kramer, brothers Lucas Baumbach of Boise, Idaho; Chris Kretzer of Shelton, Wash.; and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Gary Mead; his Grandmother Mead; and his service dog Zeus. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10th at 4:00 p.m. at W.J. Ward Memorial Cemetery.
