Dean L. Padgett
April 1, 1947 – June 27, 2016

Dean L. Padgett, 69, passed away at his home in Brookings, Ore. on June 27, 2016 with his family by his side.

Dean was born April 1, 1947 in Newport, Wash. to George and Dorothy Padgett. He spent his early years in California. Dean owned and operated several successful businesses in Oregon and California. He married Jodi Kowalski in Minden, Nev. on May 18, 2003. One of Dean’s greatest personal achievements was receiving his 19 year sobriety token on February 2, 2016. Through AA, Dean has walked many through recovery – even finding his calling as an addictions counselor. He worked most recently for Curry Community Health. Dean also enjoyed fishing, hunting, tennis and road trips on his Harley Davidson. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Jodi Padgett of Brookings; children, Justin Padgett and his wife, Wendy of Lebanon, Ore., Ryan Padgett and his wife, Krisha of Fairfield, Calif., Megan Lesser and her husband Scotty of Stanton, Calif., Tyler Kowalski of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Nolan Padgett of Brookings; brother, Dennis Padgett and his wife, Hannah of Oakhurst, Calif.; sister, Georgia Padgett of La Jolla, Calif.; grandchildren, Annabelle and Jaxton. He also leaves behind his best friend of over 60 years, Marc Johnson. Dean was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Constance Hawthorne.

A celebration of Dean’s life will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Brookings Church of the Nazarene, 1600 Chetco Ave. in Brookings. A reception will follow there.
