Obituary for David D. Rettke
David D. Rettke, 58, of Brookings, passed away in Crescent City, Calif. on October 7, 2012. David was born February 15, 1954 in Tacoma, Wash. to Gomer and Shirley Rettke. The family moved to Brookings shortly after that, and David grew up and attended school here. He began working in the local mill at the age of 18. Later in his career, David worked for various bowling alleys, including McMinnville and Independence, Ore. He enjoyed working on cars, golfing and woodworking. Survivors include his parents, Gomer and Shirley Rettke of Brookings, brother Larry Rettke and Laura Gagznos of Independence, Oregon; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Jacki Rettke of Brookings, sister and brother-in-law, Cyndi and Steve Williams of Brookings; nephews and nieces, Chris, Eric and Ryan Rettke, Lauren Ramsdell, Dustin Gagznos, Kandi Campbell and Tia Bowers; grand nieces and a grand nephew: Kylie, Kristen and Kamryn Campbell, Tori and Bailee Rettke, Jayden Zachary, Breeann, Avalina, Grace and Andy Bowers. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Rettke. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 W 6th St., Medford, OR 97501. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Redwood Memorial Chapel, 1020 Fifield St. in Brookings. Pastor Rick Green will officiate. Private interment will be at the W.
