He was an avid reader and could usually be found with a book in his hands. For several years, he was an EMT and managed the Gold Beach volunteer ambulance service. Daniel was a very devout Roman Catholic his entire life and was heavily involved in the Gold Beach parish. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan, and a son, Mark. Daniel is survived by his wife, Maureen, twelve children and spouses, fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Gold Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Christian Help Food Bank, PO Box 377, Gold Beach, OR 97444. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
