Obituary for Daniel P. Boyle
Daniel P. Boyle, 74, of Gold Beach, passed away July 8, 2014 in Coos Bay of complications from lymphoma. He was born Sept. 11, 1939 in Graceville, Minn. He was raised by friends of the family, Joseph and Angela Lievens, whom he always considered his parents. He attended a small Catholic school in Graceville, graduating in 1957. After three years in the U.S. Marines, Daniel took a job with Bell Telephone Company and spent the rest of his career working with telephone switching equipment, first with Bell in North Dakota, then General Telephone in Washington and Oregon. He and the family finally settled down in Gold Beach in 1976. Daniel was a lifelong hunter. He particularly enjoyed hunting duck and goose, but also hunted deer, pheasant and bear. He was an avid reader and could usually be found with a book in his hands. For several years, he was an EMT and managed the Gold Beach volunteer ambulance service. Daniel was a very devout Roman Catholic his entire life and was heavily involved in the Gold Beach parish. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan, and a son, Mark. Daniel is survived by his wife, Maureen, twelve children and spouses, fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Gold Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Christian Help Food Bank, PO Box 377, Gold Beach, OR 97444. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
