Obituary for Clarence D. Restad
Clarence D. Restad October 10, 1925 - February 29, 2016
Crescent City resident Clarence D. Restad, age 90, passed away on February 29, 2016 at a Brookings care facility. He was born October 20, 1925 in Calvin, ND, the sixth child of Nels and Bertha (Nilsen) Restad.
Clarence worked on various farms and at the shipyard in Seattle, WA b4fore going into the Navy in December 1943. He served on the U.S.S. Intrepid. Following his military service, he met Shirley Strait. They were married on April 8, 1947 in Crookston, MN. Clarence worked at farming, bartending, railroading, mill work, managing a trailer park and construction. The family lived in various places in Minnesota, California and Washington State. He was also a member of the Masons and Shriner’s in Modesto, CA and of the Elks and Masons in Crescent City. He is survived by his three daughters, Linda Duncan and Ginny Restad of Crescent City and Susan Salmeri of Nipomo, CA; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley and nine siblings. At his request there will be no services. His remains along with his wife’s will be scattered at sea at a later date.
