Obituary for Christopher Louis Carothers
On December 9, 2012, my son Christopher Louis Carothers went home to Heaven. Born January 17, 1994. Christopher was my ABC boy. My Autistic Boy with Cerebral Palsy, Duchene’s Muscular Dystrophy, non verbal, non ambulatory, and severely developmentally delayed, who we adopted when he was a year and half old. Life with Christopher was anything but boring and throughout my life with him, God used his life to teach me many things. One being to love unconditionally, to be more thankful for the smallest things we take for granted every day and that we all are a lot more alike than we are different. We are just like Christopher in God’s eyes. We all want to be loved, understood, accepted and belong. God showed me His love for me by getting to love on my son. He will be deeply missed. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Brookings Christian Fellowship, 18881 Cornett Rd. in Brookings. Chaplain Damon McCoy will officiate. “My brother as I knew him was a boy bound by body and mind. But a personality unbound and one-of-a-kind. As his body withered his heart shone through. While his passing has brought great sorrow, he left us with joy. Knowing that if we do pass through that narrow gate, he will walk to us no longer bound. The mom he left behind. The brothers and others, both family and friends. He will greet us with the first words of his that we have ever heard.” --written by Isaac Carothers for his brother Christopher and their mother, Kathy Dovey.
