Cheryl Anne Brisbin, 51, passed away at her home in Gold Beach, Ore. following a 5-year battle with Lou Gherig’s Disease (ALS). She was born July 23, 1964 in San Francisco, Calif. to Douglas and Carol (Griffen) Leek. She moved with her family to Brookings when she was 13 years old. Cheryl loved to be around people and spent her working life in various jobs that allowed her to do that. From pumping gas, to cleaning local businesses she worked hard to help people and provide for her family. Cheryl loved astrology and expanse of space the sun, moon and stars. She also loved 70’s and 80’s rock and roll music and had a great sense of humor and loved her cats. Survivors include her daughters, Stefani McCowan, Caroline Brisbin and Katelyn Brisbin, all of Brookings; mother, Carol Leek of Harbor; long time companion and caregiver, Patrick James Hall of Gold Beach, sisters, Susan Cruickshank of Brookings and Debbie Nye of Portland, Ore., brother, Steven Leek of Seattle, Wash. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father. A casual gathering to remember Cheryl will be held 4:00pm on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Sporthaven Beach. Her friends are invited. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
