Obituary for Charles V. "Chuck" Heaney
Charles V. “Chuck” Heaney July 1, 1926 – November 16, 2019
Charles V. “Chuck” Heaney passed away on November 16, 2019 at Brookings, Oregon. He was 93.
Chuck, as his family and friends knew him, was born July 1, 1926 in Millard, Nebraska to Charles and Evelyn (Fouts) Heaney. He spent his childhood in Iowa. His Dad’s career as a golf professional took the family to Southern California where his Dad was the head pro at the San Diego, CA Country Club. Following graduation from high school, Chuck attended Pasadena City College where he majored in Business Administration. He served in the U. S. Army, 77th Division, 11th Airborne, 511th Regiment in the Pacific area. Chuck received a combat infantry badge and a Bronze Star for his service.
Upon his honorable discharge, Chuck was hired by Bethlehem Steel in Los Angeles, changing jobs to be Assistant Golf Pro at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena, CA. He later worked a Sales Manager for 14 western states for Graphic Scanning Corp. He retired as Senior Sales Manager for the southwestern states for Fleet Control Services in 1989.
Chuck married Mary Jane Hall in Los Angeles, CA on May 12, 1965. He was active for over 50 years with the Pasadena Elks Lodge #672 and Brookings Elks Lodge #1934. At Pasadena Lodge #672 he served as Exalted Ruler 1971-1972 and at Brookings Lodge #1934 he was Secretary, and was District Deputy, Grand Exalted Ruler for the southwestern district, state of Oregon.
Following retirement, he and his wife moved to Brookings, OR in February 1989. He was also very active with Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Brookings, serving on the Financial Committee and being a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed charitable event involvement, especially his work with the Elks, as well as loving his family and church. He did it all with a good sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Jane, of Brookings; son Chuck Heaney and his wife Jean of Kneeland, CA; daughters Patty Thompson and her husband Louis of Carpinteria, CA; Kelly Trotter and her husband Tom of Flagstaff, Arizona; Grandchildren Ericka Gil of Bakersfield, CA; Scott Thompson and his wife Tricia of Ventura, CA; Amber Shields of Carpinteria, CA; Jeremy Thompson of Denver, Colorado; Brian Heaney of Eureka, CA; Carrie Heaney of Pleasant Hill, CA and Carly and Celine Trotter of Flagstaff, AZ. Sister Elayne Hummel of Grants Pass and seven great grandkids also survive him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 pm on Tuesday, December 17th at the Brookings Elks Lodge. Inurnment will be at San Marcos Cemetery in San Marcos, CA. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
