Carolyn Derricott, 80, of Brookings, returned to her Heavenly Father on February 15th. She was born November 12, 1938 in Portland, Oregon, to Ralph A. Evans and Ethel Nadeau Evans.
She married Don Ray Derricott on June 20, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Carolyn lived in Bingham, Utah until she was 13, and then moved to Sandy, UT. She graduated from Jordan High School. She received her teaching degree from BYU. She was very active in the Girl Scouts and the LDS Church. She also earned a master’s degree in Media and Administration. Carolyn enjoyed fishing and could always find a reason for a party. She retired in 1995 and relocated to Brookings, Oregon. She and Don bought Riverside RV Resort and lived their dream along the Chetco River.
She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
She is survived by daughters Deborah Newsome and her husband Ladd Newsome, and Lisa Derricott; grandchildren: Shannon Johnson and Daniel Slaughter of Brookings, and Mandi Newsome, Dani McLelland and Kevin Newsome of Salt Lake City; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don Derricott on June 6, 2017; also by her parents Ralph Evans on Aug. 1, 1975 and Ethel Nadeau Evans on June 3, 2012.
A Graveside Service will be at 1 pm on Friday, March 1st at W. J. Ward memorial Cemetery, 1035 Seventh St., Brookings. A Celebration of Life and luncheon will follow at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 770 Elk Drive in Brookings.
