Obituary for Carlene JoAnn Fakier
Carlene JoAnn Fakier April 16, 1962 – October 8, 2010 Carlene passed away unexpectedly at her home in Gold Beach on October 8, 2010, she was 48. Carlene was born April 16, 1962 in Santa Rosa, Ca. to Robert and Janice (Dunivin) Sanders. She grew up in Mendocino, and Humboldt Counties, and graduated from McKinleyville High School. She attended College of the Redwoods and received an Associate of Arts Degree with Honors in 1994. Carlene began working in her mid-teens waiting on tables and housekeeping at the Palm Cafe and Hotel in Orick, Ca. She worked full-time while attending college and was later employed by Gene Schach of Crescent City as a legal secretary, she was also a professional driver on a test track in Laredo, Texas and worked as a visitor information assistant at the Furnace Creek Information Center in Death Valley National Park. Anything that Carlene attempted she did 100% to the best of her ability, she worked hard her entire life. Carlene’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed riding horses, hiking, gardening and painting. While she lived in Crescent City she adopted many of her daughter’s girlfriends, and always had room for more. She was also a member of the Gold Beach Apostolic Church. Carlene is survived by her father Robert Sanders of Crescent City, husband and best friend, Michael of Gold Beach, daughters, April Woodman and her husband Marvin (Jake) Jones Jr. of Crescent City, Annie Hennesey of Gridley, Ca., and Vonnie, Charlotte and Rebecca Fakier of Gold Beach. She also had five grandchildren, Chanda and Edward Jones, Kayla, Kaitlyn and Isabel Hennesey. She was a loving Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Wife and Friend. She had a kind, gentle spirit and was loved very much by all who knew her. Carlene will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Rodney and her mother Janice. A private family memorial was held in Boonville, Ca. Her family would like to express gratitude for the outpouring of cards, flowers and phone calls and would ask that any donations be made to the charity of their choice or to the Curry County Home, Health and Hospice, Curry Health Foundation, or the Oasis Shelter Home.
