Bobbie William Baker, 64 years old, passed away October 22, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Betty (Lawless) Baker. He is survived by his loving wife Charlene of 27 years, a brother and sister John and Pam, his two daughters Melissa (John) Luman of Milan, Tennessee and Susan Nicole Baker of Beaufort, North Carolina and son Randy Russell of Prospect, Ohio. He also has 9 grandchildren: Tyler Evans, Breanna Britton, Siearra Britton, Matthew Joan, Brandon Joan, Austin Anderson, Allyshia Luman, Andrew Luman and Amber Luman and 3 great grandchildren, his 3 aunts, an uncle, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bobbie was born September 25, 1954 in Grants Pass, Oregon. In 1964 his family moved to Brookings where he remained until 1972. He attended Brookings Harbor High School. In 1972 he entered the Navy, was in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1975. Before leaving Brookings in 1978 he worked as a commercial fisherman on his boat the Vicky Sea and he also was a logger. In Ohio he met his loving wife of 27 years Charlene Hoch Russel and married in 1991 on July 6th. Bob worked at Union Tank Car Company for 29 years in Marion, Ohio. He returned to Brookings in 2014 where he worked for Goodwill until retiring in 2017.
Bob loved to bowl and golf. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #889 in Marion, OH; also American Legion Post #162 in Marion. He was also a 40/8er.
His love, laughter and generosity will be dearly missed by all. He will be forever in our hearts.
There will be a service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1200 Easy Street, on Saturday, October 27th at 1 p.m.
Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
