Obituary for Betty Lu Buck
Betty Lu Buck of Brookings, Ore., passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by friends, on Oct. 22, 2013. She was 75 years old. Betty was born Feb. 16, 1938, in Eden, Texas, to Harold and Cleo (McDonald) Westbrook. Betty was one of four children, including her sister Nancy Capp of Visalia, Calif., brother John Huntsucker of Pahrump, Nev., and brother Benny Westbrook who preceded her in death. Betty loved the outdoors; she moved to Brookings to enjoy all of the natural beauty it has to offer. She enjoyed taking walks on Harris Beach, and through Azalea Park. She loved nature, and she loved people. Nobody had a more loving spirit than Betty; she touched the lives of everyone she met. As a faithful Buddhist, Betty was not afraid to leave this life; she knew that what awaited her in the afterlife was better. A major drive in her life was to make other people happy, and she was a major role model to her sister Nancy, and to many others. There will be a private celebration of life for close friends and family in Betty’s honor. Redwood Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
