Bette Louise SHerbourne was born November 23, 1935 in Los Angeles, California. After an extended illness, she died on November 22, 2011 at the age of 75. While working as a waitress at the Pep Creamery in Santa Cruz in 1952, she fell in love with a soldier, Bob Sherbourne, shortly after his return from the Korean War. They married and had two children, Deborah and Bryan. As a military family, the traveled the world and lived abroad. The family settled in Brookings in 1989. Bette was an exceptional artist, whose work has brought much pleasure and happiness to many. She was a past Historian, Public Relations Officer, and President of the Pelican Bay Arts Association in Brookings. Bette leaves behind daughter Deborah Sherbourned and husband, Marc, of Ashland Oregon; son Bryan Sherbourne and wife, Janice of Ada, Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Farrah, Jeremy, Michael, Jonathan, and Brittany. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Balzi, of Santa Cruz, California. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Katheryn Evans, and father, Reynard Hugh Wells; brother, Robert Wells; and husband, Robert Edgar Sherbourne. She also leaves behind many friends that will miss her dearly. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations "In Memory of Bette Louise Sherbourne" may be sent to the Pelican Bay Arts Association, Manley Arts Center, 509 Pine Street, Brookings, Oregon.
